ADRIEN DENIAU

My film camera journey began in 2020, as it offered a way to spend time outside of confined spaces. Encouraged by a photographer friend and the lucky borrower of a camera that is a few months older than me, I set out to explore the unknown corners of the city in which I lived at the time: Bangkok, Thailand.

Since then I have predominantly combined photography sessions with solitary outdoor adventures in the wilderness of both urban and natural environments. These external explorations always ultimately lead to internal experiences that can be meditative and engaging, as much as uncomfortable and at times frightening. Whichever ensues, such moments always make me feel alive, and this is what I am most drawn to.

While I particularly like the mechanical feel and sense of connection provided by film cameras, I also enjoy its digital counterpart. The experiences are simply different, neither better than the other. Both are mediums that teach me to be present, to look, and see what is there.
